(Week ending Friday 30 June 2000)
First up this week, part of the old railway bridge that took the trains from Hawick station over the River Teviot. It was demolished in 1975 or 76 to make way for the Teviotdale Leisure Centre and has lay buried under a landscaped area for the last 25 years. A nice surprise for the contractors!!
Looking towards North Bridge Street, this area will form the new roadway. We plan to take the roadworks photos from the same or as near as possible as previous photos to show the changes.
Our previous photo from this spot showed the digger working, this shot shows how much earth has been moved.
This was a landscaped grass area untill a few weeks ago.
Hawick Public Library, this area when finished will be a cobbled pedestrian zone.
A general view of traffic situation on Wilton Hill, you should see this road at five o clock!!
